56 Strangest Dream

Last night I had the strangest dream
I'd ever dreamed before:
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war.

I dreamed I saw a mighty room,
The room was full of men:
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again.

And when the paper was all signed
And a million copies made,
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful pray'rs were prayed.

And the people in the streets below
Were dancing 'round and 'round,
While swords and guns and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground.

Jeg drømte mig en drøm i nat,
jeg drømte om en jord,
med statsmænd som kun talte om,
at standse krig og mord.
Jeg drømte om alverdens mænd,
den sal de mødtes i,
de underskrev at kamp og vold,
for altid var forbi.
Den sidste mand gik frem og skrev,
jeg så ham smile glad,
jeg så det prentet sort på hvidt,
at glemt var krigens had.
Og der blev lys i alle byer,
og mennesker lo og sang,
og våben spredtes, grænser faldt,
som skilte os engang.
Jeg drømte mig en drøm i nat,
jeg drømte om en jord,
med statsmænd som kun talte om,
at standse krig og mord.
Jeg drømte om alverdens mænd,
den sal de mødtes i,
de underskrev at kamp og vold,
for altid var forbi.
