Ligesom der forskes i fred, forskes der specielt i USA og England i forsoning, eksempelvis ved the Centre for Reconsiliation and Forgivenes Studies, Coventry University. The Parents' Crircle - a group of Israelis and Palestinians who all lost loved ones in the ongoing violence, and are dedicated to try and put an end to it.
The Centre for the Study of Forgiveness and Reconciliation at Coventry University is offering a ten-week certificated course in Peace and Reconciliation Studies, available on the Internet. The programme is intended for graduate students, and more specifically for personnel in academia, government, civil service, NGOs or other institutions concerned with issues of peace, conflict transformation, forgiveness, and reconciliation. There are four units in the programme. Each is built around a set of interrelated topics and issues. These are: concepts of peace and violence; theory of "peace by peaceful means"; forgiveness, reconciliation and justice: current debates; peacemaking; conflict transformation; justice issues; mediation skills; and, links between religion, personal values and peacemaking.

Der er nedsat sanheds- og forsoningskommissioner i en række lande, hvor militærstyrer har overtrådt menneskerettighederne, eksempelvis i Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, Peru, El Salvador, Sydafrika og Øst Timor.
